Ferguson Mouth Gag – Small (Fmgc)Ferguson Mouth Gag is a dental instrument used to provide access to and maintain an open mouth during dental procedures. The arms are designed to be placed on either side of the patient’s mouth, and the screw is tightened to gently open the mouth and keep it in an open position. Unlike the version with a rubber bite, this particular model does not have a rubber bite plate attached to the arms.

• Prepare the patient:  Ensure the patient is comfortably positioned in the dental chair, with their head and neck properly supported. Communicate with the patient to ensure they understand the procedure and what to expect.
• Inspect the instrument:  Before using the mouth gag, inspect it for any damage or defects. Ensure that the screw mechanism is functioning properly and that the arms are clean and in good condition.
• Adjust the mouth gag:  Loosen the screw mechanism to open the arms of the mouth gag. Position the arms on either side of the patient’s mouth, with the upper arm resting against the upper molars and the lower arm resting against the lower molars.
• Place the mouth gag:  Gently insert the mouth gag into the patient’s mouth, positioning it so that the arms are evenly distributed on both sides. Be cautious not to cause any discomfort or injury to the patient’s oral tissues.
