Channel Retractor Regular (CHR) is a dental instrument commonly used in restorative dentistry to aid in the retraction of soft tissue and facilitate access to the tooth preparation site. It is also used to improve visibility and protect the soft tissues from being damaged during the preparation process.The CHR consists of a thin, curved blade with a U-shaped cross-section, which is designed to be inserted into the gingival sulcus (the crevice between the tooth and gum tissue)

• Begin by selecting the appropriate size of the CHR. The blade should be long enough to reach the depth of the gingival sulcus without causing undue pressure or discomfort.
• Hold the CHR handle with a firm but gentle grip and position the blade at the edge of the gingival tissue surrounding the tooth to be treated.
• Gently insert the blade into the gingival sulcus, taking care not to apply too much pressure or force. The blade should be inserted far enough to achieve adequate retraction of the soft tissue, but not so far as to cause injury or discomfort.
• Once the blade is in place, use the handle to adjust the angle of the blade to achieve the desired level of retraction and visibility.
