  • Select the Proper Forceps: Choose the extraction forceps specifically designed for upper right molars. Ensure that the forceps are clean and sterilized before use.
  • Positioning: Position yourself in front of the patient so that you have a clear view and easy access to the upper right molar that requires extraction.
  • Grasping the Tooth: With the extraction forceps in hand, carefully grasp the crown of the upper right molar firmly but gently. Ensure that the beak of the forceps snugly conforms to the contour of the tooth to facilitate a secure grip.
  • Stabilization: Once the tooth is firmly grasped, stabilize it by applying gentle pressure to the surrounding tissues using your fingers or a dental elevator.
  • Extraction: With controlled and steady force, begin to rock the tooth back and forth in a rotational motion. This motion helps to dislodge the tooth from its socket gradually.
  • Assessment: Periodically assess the mobility of the tooth to determine progress. If necessary, apply additional force gradually while being mindful not to exert excessive pressure, which could risk damaging surrounding tissues.
  • Complete Extraction: Continue the rocking motion until the tooth is fully extracted from the socket. Once the tooth is removed, inspect the socket to ensure that it is clear of any debris or fragments.
  • Post-Extraction Care: Provide post-extraction instructions to the patient, including guidance on proper oral hygiene and any prescribed medications for pain management or infection prevention.
  • Documentation: Record the extraction procedure in the patient’s dental chart, including details such as the tooth extracted, any complications encountered, and post-operative instructions given.
